The scent of sweet peaches is filling the garden and kitchen. The birds are picking up the scent and attacking the sweet ends of the peaches. I’ve tried to cover as many as possible but it looks like I’m forced to share the bounty. I posted a YouTube video of the peaches. Please remember to use the PicLens which enlarges the details of the photos.
They made me so hungry for peaches ouuuuuuuuuuuRose

Oh Yummmmm they look sooooo good. Would love to pick one and have a bite before the birds get them.
Have lots there so hopefully they will leave you plenty.

How tall is that peach tree, Miriam? I was always taught to prune the peach trees so that they never get over 7 feet tall.
For those of you with newer peach trees the ideal way to prune them is to make the center of the tree open so sunlight and air will get through to it and to encourage horizontal growth.
I just watched a couple of videos on YouTube on how to prune a peach tree to see if I might be in error. Although one man’s pruning made me want to cry for the poor tree, the compendium seemed to agree with the way I was taught to prune a peach tree. This is also true for any stone fruit tree.

OK, so I’m still jealous, but now drooling also.
I think I really like your recycling plastic containers. Please tell us as to how they work out. I wonder is small paper bags would last long enough to provide any help. As they could be used in full sun where clear plastic might cook the peaches.
Thank you for sharing so many pictures with us.

Oh my, those look good! I can taste their sweet juiciness now.

Birds often peck fruit because they are thirsty – adding a bird bath helped my
garden harvest, and may help your peach / tomatoes.

Boy am I dizzy spinning around the tree. The birds sure like those peaches.
Like the wraps to save some for you. I think the birds would take them all.

Miriam,
All the honor to you (and Jim too) for growing such a wonderful peach tree with bounty of fruit.
How do they taste? very sweet? Are you planning to use the peaches for cooking & baking?
Enjoy the fruits of you work.

Anuga, We use the peaches many different ways. One of our favorite things to do is cut them up and add them to plain yogurt with a little agave nectar. If we have extra we freeze them and make smoothies later in the year.
