This Cardwell Lily has had one leaf for the longest time. I was beginning to think it would never bloom again. Then without any hint that something was about to happen it sent up this short flower stalk. One minute nothing and the next—- there it is. Just as I was thinking of complaining that the flower stalk was too short and surely the loose bunny would munch on it—it grew. Now some of the individual flowers are opening. I wish I could get some better photos—but white is really hard to photograph especially since there isn’t full light in this part of the garden. If I let in full sunlight it would burn this delicate beauty. Please remember to use the PicLens which highlights the details of the photos.

Ok,-the way that lily is developing is downright unusual…I’ve never seen that in a flower before! And it’s low maintenance and fragrant, too? Now there’s my idea of a winning combination! Thanks for sharing this!

Happy Friday was said by the Cardwell Lily in a big way. The flowers are clear against the black background. They are very beautiful.
What a nice gift for the weekend.
    Love, Anuga

after reading the story of this little beauty, i want to dedicate this flower to john, annie and myself. our little family is going to be official tomorrow (as official as it can be right now)… you see, i was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to bloom again, then i looked around and sure enough i have! thanks miriam! without your garden’s gift, beauty out of tragedy, i would have taken MUCH longer to learn and grow past my own griefs. love, light and life!
