WHITE FREESIA MARCH 2011

Today’s flower is the White Freesia. This flower is a real survivor. I first noticed its flimsy floppy leaves flattened under the peach tree. Thinking it was hopeless I just let it be wondering if the wind had been too strong or if some animal could have trampled it. Then one day I was surprised to see a flower stalk growing out from this really challenged freesia. Each day the buds got bigger and as you can see what emerged is a lovely cluster of creamy white with just a touch of yellow flowers. I guess the lesson is “Don’t ever give up” or “Don’t count me out.” This freesia was a real challenge to photograph because the white is so white and there is obstructed natural light.
