Almost Black Water Lily

The center of this water lily does look “almost black”. Depending on the light, at any given time it has shades of raspberry, pink, fuchsia and cranberry. I think this variety stays open longer than most water lilies —-3-4 days. As the flower fades it gets darker. This water lily is in the smallest of the three ponds. It’s keeping company with two white water lilies, one burgundy and a lotus. Haven’t had the burgundy, lotus or one white water lily bloom yet. I’m still getting used to the Arizona weather and growing patterns.

  1. I have run out of adjectives…breathtakingly beautiful, STUNNNNNERS, I must see one of these days in person, you sure have found your niche in honoring Dale in this way..
