This has worked out well to protect the crinum from the intense afternoon sun. I wish I had done it earlier because it would have saved one of the flower stalks from getting crispy. We used some pvc pipe to hold the unbrella poles in the ground. It was touch and go when the wind kicked up. To my amusement I witnessed the wind lift the umbrellas straight up and out of the pvc pipe and toss them around the lawn. Almost like someone was levitating them. A wood shim wedged in the pvc pipe solved the problem and I’m happy to report that the crinum are loving their shade. Please remember to use the PicLens which highlights the details of the photos.
